That is the question.
I eat. Nom nom nom. In fact this is my preferred method of ingesting cannabis. Unlike smoking, however, you have to plan it out a bit more. The onset of your high can take an hour or more and homemade edibles are harder to gauge in potency. If you’re not used to this kind of delayed effect you’ll think it’s not working, you take more … 3 hours later you’re high AF and not coming down anytime soon. The high lasts longer. So how does one know how to proceed? Practice my friends. Start low and go slow.
The next cannabis bill to be passed includes the legal sale of edibles in 5-10 milligram portions. Despite the packaging and waste nightmare this restriction will cause, it is where any bud tender would recommend you start your dosing level. If you’re not a regular cannabis user, 5 mg, if you are, start testing at 10 mg.
Wahoo! When does this come into effect? Thursday October 18th. That’s tomorrow! HOWEVER, don’t expect availability until December.
Now that we have a starting point the questions keep flowing. As it happens I’ve collected a couple of great articles on the subject. I know … You’re shocked.
A quick note before you start reading about people taking too many edibles and heading to the hospital: It is impossible to consume enough cannabis to kill you. The most important thing about edibles is to know what you’re doing.
This article by leafbuyer.com is a great place to start.
“This all sounds fun but I have kids and I dont want them accidently getting in to them” you say. A legitimate concern.
Again, leafbuyer.com to the rescue:
Itching to try it out? Well I’ve got some good news. You can! Although making edibles yourself seems like a difficult and risky task it does not have to be. There is no need to waste your stash on improperly made edibles that you don’t enjoy. Instead, try a firecracker. So fast. So easy. If you can make toast, you can make a firecracker.

Now invite a friend over and start playing with some fun personal firecracker combos. Not into Graham crackers? Oatmeal cookies are nice with peanut butter and hazelnut spread. Once you’ve found your amazing new fav send the details my way. I’d love to try em out.
